Who we are
Easy A started with a simple idea: Abby Owen, a licensed secondary math educator with a B.S. in Mathematics and a Master's in Education, wanted to bring in some income while being a full-time mom. She knew she could help kids genuinely understand math — not just pass a test — and so she started tutoring out of Johnson City. What happened next she didn't quite plan for.
Before long, her husband Kole joined the team to cover science, and then her sister Linzee came on board to round out the trio with English and Writing. Three tutors, three subjects, one family — all rooted right here in the Tri-Cities.
Most recently, the team welcomed Samuel — a classics scholar with advanced degrees in Classics, History, and Religion, and published doctoral research from the University of Manchester. Samuel brings something the family couldn't offer on their own: Ancient Greek, Latin, Classical Humanities, and graduate-level mentorship for students who want to go deep. He's the newest member of the Easy A family, and he fits right in.
What ties us all together is more than shared passion. Abby, Kole, and Linzee are Johnson City-based educators who attended East Tennessee State University and came away with a genuine love for learning and teaching. Samuel brings the same spirit from across the Atlantic. Whether your student is wrestling with algebra, making sense of a chemistry lab, staring down a blank essay, or working through an ancient text — there's someone on this team who gets it. That's the Easy A difference: real teachers, real relationships, and results that actually stick.
